What this spreadsheet does

Usage rights and exclusivity arrive as contract clauses rather than line items, so they are given away free. On the worked example they are worth more than the content itself.

What you can do with it

  • Quote a brand deal without guessing
  • Put a number on a six month exclusivity clause
  • See what an opening offer actually pays you per hour

What's included

Sheet tabs

  • Instructions
  • Deal Pricer
  • Usage and Exclusivity

Features

  • Production floor calculated as a refusal line, not a price
  • Usage priced as a multiple of the deliverable fee across five levels, from organic only to perpetual
  • Exclusivity priced as income forgone rather than as a vague premium
  • The brand's opening offer tested against your floor, in words rather than a number
  • What the offer leaves unpaid, and the effective hourly rate if you accept it
  • Exclusivity shown as a share of the whole deal

How it works

  1. 1Enter production hours, your rate and any direct costs
  2. 2Choose the usage the brand is asking for
  3. 3Enter how many deals exclusivity would cost you and what they pay

Who it's for

Creators and influencers negotiating paid brand work.

Usage multipliers reflect common industry practice rather than a published standard. Rates vary enormously by niche and geography.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I charge per follower?

There is no reliable per-follower rate, which is why this prices from deliverables, usage and exclusivity instead. Audience size is a sanity check on the answer, not the input.

Why is exclusivity priced separately?

Because it is future income you are selling. If you would take two deals in that category during the window at $800 each, the clause is worth $1,600 and a deal that does not cover it is a loss.

What is the production floor for?

It is a refusal line. Below it you are paying the brand for the privilege of advertising them. It is never the number you quote.
